$1,000………..Sarah Buel Level ($84 per month) When Sarah began her escape from a brutal and violent marriage, there were no laws and little support to help her. A natural leader, she attended Harvard and founded several programs assist women and children and prevent violence with women prisoners. Sarah’s work was instrumental in creating the Violence Against Women Act in 1994.

$2,500…………Susan Schechter Level ($208 per month) Susan was a visionary national leader in shaping society’s response to violence against women and children. She authored many books that continue to shape the focus on children and domestic abuse. She is revered as a collaborator and is known for devoting her life to building bridges between the domestic abuse and child welfare fields.

$5,000…………Tillie Black Bear Level ($417 per month) After an impromptu restroom gathering at a civil rights conference, Black Bear along with other attendees, dubbed themselves the "the Bathroom Sisters" and pledged to give domestic abuse a national voice. That year, Black Bear and the Bathroom Sisters formed the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

$10,000 +………Queen Victoria Level ($833 per month) With Queen Victoria’s ascension to the English throne in the late 1800s, lawmakers began to enact reform regarding women. Wives could no longer be kept under lock and key, life threatening beatings were considered grounds for divorce, and wives and daughters could not be sold into prostitution. Queen Victoria was a leader in paving the way for women to have a place at life’s table.
