24/7 Crisis Line

Invest your time, skills, talents and passion with us. The return is immeasurable!

As a volunteer you will be contributing to our mission of stopping the cycle of domestic abuse. Our volunteer program is made up of two types of volunteers: Direct Services and Indirect Services. Please see below for descriptions of each program to see which best applies to you.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:

Administrative Volunteer:  Emerge! is looking for volunteers to assist with a variety of administrative tasks, including but not limited to computer data entry, organizational projects and filing. Bilingual is a plus! Volunteers can work Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This is an indirect services volunteer position, please read below for more information.

Tabling / Community Education Volunteer: Emerge! is looking for volunteers who are personable, well-spoken, able to comfortably speak with a variety of community members and available during business hours (preferable), as well as weekends. In addition, they will need to attend one of the Emerge! quarterly DA workshops and shadow a few events with either the Volunteer Coordinator or a trained volunteer.

Direct Service Volunteers:

Direct service volunteers are an essential part of our team. Volunteers work side by side with staff members, delivering services to participants in all areas of our domestic abuse programs. Volunteer positions can include offering support on the hotline, in the emergency shelter as well as our community based sites. Please note this process may take a few weeks. A minimum volunteer commitment of one year is greatly appreciated.

Stage 1: Fill out and submit the direct service application. Volunteer Services will contact applicants to schedule a personal interview. Due to the sensitive nature of our services, not all applicants will be approved for the volunteer program. Only approved applicants will be asked to complete stage two.

Stage 2: Approved applicants will need to submit a reference check form, obtain finger print clearance and attend a 40 hour direct service training. All processing fees are paid for by Emerge!
